Acclaimed Didgeridoo Player Joins Q150 Pageant
Adrian Ross blends ancient sounds with contemporary rhythms

The Q150 pageant 'Pioneers and Legends of the West' to be staged in Winton on Saturday 26 September as part of the Outback Festival is sure to be spectacular – especially since the festival has secured renowned didgeridoo player Adrian Ross to perform in the pageant.

Adrian is Australia's premier indigenous didgeridoo performer. His mixture of traditional Australian indigenous music with the contemporary feel of rhythm and dance is wooing crowds all over the world.

Adrian is no stranger to the outback, having just completed a tour of outback schools to demonstrate his didgeridoo playing skills to school children, and educate them about indigenous culture. Winton locals might also remember Adrian's performance in the Waltzing Matilda centenary celebrations in 1995.

Adrian comes from the Moonahcullah community in southern New South Wales. His father is from the Wamba Wamba tribe while his mother is from the Mutti Mutti tribe. Adrian grew up in the town of Deniliquin and moved to Queensland when he was 19. He is now based on the Sunshine Coast.

Adrian has performed with some of Australia's leading artists such as James Morrison, Marina Prior, Leah Purcell, Graham Connors, Bardot, Taxi Ride, John Paul Young, David Campbell, John Stevenson and Adam Brand.

His latest album, 'Shake A Leg' is set to surpass all of his previous releases. A blend of didgeridoo with fresh, new sounds and movements has created a whole new dance style from the roots of indigenous Australia.

As well as performing in the pageant, Adrian will be playing a mixture of songs from his albums and some new songs, yet to be released.

Your chance to bid on a unique Australian artwork

Peter J Hill is one of three renowned Australian artists to donate a dunny door painting for auction during the Outback Festival. Known around Australia and internationally for his wonderful depictions of outback life, Peter's dunny door painting for the festival auction is sure to become a treasured artwork for the lucky winner. Peter is joined for the first time this year by Rolf Harris and the Birdsville-based Wolfgang John.  This year the auction will be held at the Quilton Australian Dunny Derby on Friday 25th September with money raised benefiting charities.  We are grateful to these high-profile artists for generously donating their time and talent to create such note-worthy pieces of art.  Their creations may be viewed at the Outback Festival Office prior to the auction.  We hope you can join us for this unique and distinctly-outback auction!
